Published continuously since 1884, the Reports of Patent, Design and Trade Mark Cases (RPCs) remain the leading full-text law reports in intellectual property. They are published on behalf of the Intellectual Property Office as required by s.123(7) of the Patents Act 1977.
Containing the definitive text of carefully selected key decisions and judgments, along with expert headnotes written by Mary Vitoria QC, the RPCs are an essential part of the toolkit of solicitors, barristers, judiciary, patent attorneys and trade mark attorneys.
Selectivity
The RPCs contain only the most important UK intellectual property decisions. This selectivity helps practitioners avoid "information overload", providing easy access to the information that they really need to know about, on a regular and reliable basis.
Expert Headnotes
Each case is accompanied by a headnote provided by Mary Vitoria QC, Editor of the RPCs. This expert service ensures that the important aspects of each case are drawn out, analyzed and presented with clarity and wisdom. Headnotes include key words, summaries of facts and judicial findings, lists of cases and legislation considered, names of instructed counsel and solicitors, etc.
Illustrations
The RPCs include relevant technical drawings and illustrations, so that the reader can make sense of the scientific/technical/visual subject-matter under discussion.
Relevance
RPCs are a key primary reference source for the profession. They provide the authentic text of judgments and can be cited with confidence in the courts and in publications.
