Law Relating to Arbitration and Conciliation

Arbitration is a creature of contract which has been provided statutory backing under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, to usher in party autonomy, quick disposal, and an efficacious alternative remedy. The book is a veritable commentary on the Arbitration Act as amended till date comprising 34 chapters, with brief survey of the Contract Act, 1872 and Specific Relief Act, 1963.

• Preliminary chapters (Chapters 1to 5) are introductory chapter, chapters on dispute resolution mechanism, historical development of law of arbitration, overview of the arbitration act; and chapter on judicial role;
• Chapters 6 to 8 deal with arbitration agreement, power of judicial authority to refer parties to arbitration and power of the court to issue interim measures;
• Chapters 9 to 11 deal with composition, challenge of appointment and jurisdiction of arbitral tribunal;
