Law students feel that the subject-matter of the Code of Criminal Procedure is dry and uninteresting as section-wise case laws, comments have to be memorised. To make the subject easy and interesting, the Code of Criminal Procedure is presented here topic-wise but not section-wise. The presentation of analysis of the relevant sections of the Code connected with each topic at one place enables the reader to understand the hard contents of the Code easily. As there are a number of case laws, it is not possible to cite all the cases laws, but contents of many of the past case laws have been incorporated and the recent cases have been cited.
An attempt has been made to present the subject in lucid style and in simple language. The recent Amendment made by the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act, 2008 (Act No. 5 of 2009) and the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 (Act No. 13 of 2013) have been incorporated in this text. As the syllabi of the Bar Council of India and of various universities have combined the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of the Children) Act, 2015 under one subject, the present text contains the subject matter of all the three acts at one place.
