Shweta Bansal was born in Kanpur and brought up in Lucknow where she went to the prestigious La Martiniere Girls’ College. A childhood accident left her differently-abled, but she put her difficult past behind her to complete her BA LLB from NUJS, Kolkata, and went on to work in Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co. Not one to get complacent, she cleared the civil services examination and after a nearly three-year long battle with the government, regarding her rank and cadre, has now given up her six-digit salary to join the Indian Foreign Services. Despite her stellar achievements she finds time to sing like a nightingale, chant with other Buddhist believers, cook amazing Chinese and Italian food, and get licked by her two adorable dogs – Neo and Oscar. Those who know her love her for her wicked sense of humour. She is inspired by Steffi Graff, loves children, believes in magic and gets weak-kneed each time she sees George Clooney smile.
