Overview:

This comprehensive compendium covers more than six decades of the Supreme Court's rulings on the subject. Volume 1, released in 2013 covers the period 1950-2013. Since then there has been considerable development in the law, necessitating Volume 2 for the period of 2013-2016, covering case law as reported in (2013) 3 SCC to (2016) 2 SCC along with the bare text of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 as amended by Act 26 of 2015.

The current volume 2 of the digest incorporates the complete text of the ruling in Bridgestone India (P) Ltd. v. Inderpal Singh, (2016) 2 SCC 75 as published in SCC with the SCC pagination which affirms the retrospective applicability of Ss. 142(2) and 142-A of the NI Act, 1881.

The arrangement has been conceived and planned to enable the discovery of all the rulings, easily and quickly. The Table of Cases Digested, Annotations, Editorial Notes and Comments, Cross References, etc. further facilitate expedient research.

This two-volume comprehensive and authoritative digest covering the entire period from 1950-2016, shall be found indispensable by the judiciary, the learned members of the Bar, Banking and Financial Institutions, and all those engaged in commerce, trade and industry, as well as those interested in the subject for an in-depth study.
