Police plays an important role in the upkeep of the public order and protection of rights of the people in India. While doing so, Police Officers take recourse to various laws enacted by the Government. With plethora of laws on a large number of issues, sometimes it becomes difficult for a police man to know which law can be applied in a particular situation and what authority and responsibility he has under various laws.
In order to help Police Officers to discharge their duties better, a compendium has been compiled of the various laws enacted by the Central Government. Specific authority and responsibility under each of these laws (totaling 154), have been compiled in a tabular form for easy referencing. It is expected that this ready compendium will help the Police Officers of all ranks in India for quick and useful references.
