Indian Penal Code explains the provisions of the Code (IPC) in a simple and lucid language. IPC is the major substantive law of crime in India, which defines the various offences and provides punishment for them.
This revised edition covers the case law and statutory developments [including Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2018] since the last edition.
In the last few years, the Supreme Court has delivered judgments having far-reaching consequences on crimes relating to rape, unnatural offences, adultery, defamation, etc. The book covers these judgments with a critical eye and analytical approach.
In the present edition, the authors have taken note of various reports, which include - Code Makers View, Law Commission's Reports, etc. Further, each chapter begins with quotations that throw light on the topics discussed and explain ambit and scope thereof. These quotations will help law students and practicing lawyers in understanding and also in explaining doctrines in the chapter.
A chapter-wise select list of articles published in various law review journals has been appended at the end of each chapter. Full text of these articles is available on SCC OnlineTM under the "Articles" database.
This book will prove to be immensely useful to law students, academicians, lawyers and anyone interested in learning about the Indian Penal Code.
