Overview:

The second edition of Legal Studies for Class XII has been thoroughly revised as per the syllabus laid down by CBSE Board. The language used is simple for easy understanding of complex topics by young and eager minds. Each chapter has been written by leading luminaries in their field, judges, practicing lawyers, and faculty of India’s premier law schools. Their combined knowledge aims to develop, in students, a basic understanding of the social structure around them and in their environment to help them take an objective view of law as a career option.

Exercises have been added at the end of every chapter for students to test themselves. In-depth revision has been taken up of certain portions of the book such as Chapter 2 titled Topics in Law by the revising author Dr Deepa Paturkar. The book is tailored for those students, currently in school, who aspire to study law in the five-year law program.

The book explains the structure of the judiciary and various fundamental topics in law. It goes on to explain dispute resolution mechanisms available in the country. The book focuses on human rights issues, legal aid services which are made available in this country, and finally the concept of international law.

This book has been written for Class 12 students who have taken up Legal Studies as a subject. The syllabus of this course is tailored for those aspiring to undertake rigorous legal education at the University level; however, it will also go a long way in helping understand the basic social fabric of our nation and its everyday functioning, even to those who have other career aspirations.
