ASSESSMENT OF COMPENSATION

The procedure for assessments of compensation to be paid to accident victims or dependents of accident victim is a complicated and difficult exercise because it contains many imponderables.

     The book is a must for every person who is interested in the amout and quantum of compensation to be assessed by the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunals, Such as :

• Accident victims.
• Dependents of accidents victims.
• Insurance Companies.
• Transportes.
• State Government Transport Undertakings.
• Defence departments, as owners of largest fleet of Motor Vechicles.
• All private persons owning Motor vehicles.
• Members of teh Bar/Bench & Tribunals.

     It is difficult to translate such non-pecuniary damage into monetary term. Still the law reconises them as causes for which compensation is due, and the Tribunals are required to ascertain some amount for each of them. The amount of compensation could not be arbitray.
