The parliament enacted the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in order to prevent the commission of offences against the members of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, to provide for Special Courts for the trial of such offences and for the relief and rehabilitation of the victims of such offences and related matters.
The author has provided an enlightening, section by section, analysis of the provisions with supportive case-law.
An important feature of the book is the provision of : (1) List of Scheduled Castes, (2) List of Scheduled Tribes, (3) List of Tribal Areas, (4) List of Scheduled Areas, alongwith many other Constitutional orders, related Acts and Rules.
